Genetic testing
What is genetic testing?
Genetic testing looks at your DNA for changes (variants) that can cause genetic disorders. It can point to a diagnosis, show how the condition can be managed, and guide the next steps.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to get tested?
Genetic testing usually starts with a consultation with a geneticist. They choose the right test for the symptoms seen in the patient or family, and explain what the test can find and what to expect.
What types of tests does Genetidoc offer?
Diagnostic genetic tests for inherited conditions, cancer risk, carrier screening and more, Alzheimer’s risk assessment, and specialised panels developed with partner healthcare providers and labs.
How are samples collected?
Usually a blood sample at a partner lab or clinic. Sample collection agents can also collect the blood sample from your locality.
How do I get my testing kit?
We share genetic test kits through our testing partners as part of a clinical workflow, along with a post-test genetic counselling session to discuss the report.
How long does it take to get results?
It depends on the test. Targeted test reports are usually ready within 2 to 4 weeks of sample collection. Clinical diagnostic tests may take longer, depending on complexity and lab processing.
Do I need to fast or prepare before giving a sample?
No special preparation is needed for a blood draw.
